Tips from Grandma

Tips from Grandma is our page giving advice from one woman to another on life, motherhood, marriage & anything else. This is our fun page of information.  This is where we want to share the hints and tips we have collected over the years from other women to help support us through life, living, motherhood, marriage and surviving the modern age.  These tips can come from your mum, grandmother or any other female member of your family or just some good advice from your friends.  This is what the Women's Oral History Project is about, support us to make us feel better and have a wonderful life and laugh a little more.

Here is a good example. I was in a cafe waiting for a friend when an elderly lady started to talk to me.

"Dear, do you know how to get a man? How to get a rich man to marry you so that he can take care of you? I expect not, many of you young girls don't appear to have a clue.  So I am going to tell you. Instead of sitting here in this cafe having a cup of tea with other women you should go to the most expensive hotel in your area for tea.  There you will meet a better callable of a man, a better class of person". Then she walked away in her tweed suit and leather handbag.

Please feel free to add your tips from Grandma on this page, the tips don't have to be from Grandma, if you have a tip you would be willing to share with us please do.  We would love to hear from you and share the advice you have.  We look forward to reading your versions of Tips from Grandma.

I AM SORRY, BUT I HAVE HAD TO DISABLE ALL THE COMMENTS ON THIS PAGE AS WE HAVE BEEN GETTING SPAN.  OVER 18,000 COMMENTS WANTING TO SELL DRUGS ETC.

If you have any tips, please email them to me on our contact page and we will add them to this site.

This is such a shame that a few mindless XXXX have caused all this extra work for others.

  1. My grandmothers advice to me….never buy cheap shoes, look after your feet because you have to walk on them for the rest of your life! Good advice which I always stick to! Lol

    1. We are a group of volunteers and starting a very similar scheme in our community. Your website provided us with valuable info to work on. Thank you.

  2. My gran always said – never eat yellow snow and The best from my Mum had to be ‘Why would he buy the cow if he’s getting the milk for free?’ and a very wise one ‘Don’t fuel the fire.’
